Bethany Genenbacher, LCSW

I love what I do, Period. I feel incredibly fortunate to be one of those people who truly loves their work and looks forward to coming to work each day. I can’t imagine another career where you are given the gift of hearing people’s stories, being trusted with their most vulnerable moments, and having the opportunity to walk alongside them as they navigate life. Every client who shares their story with me is a reminder of what a privilege it is to be part of this work. Since beginning my career in 1995, that feeling has never faded. If anything, I have grown to appreciate it more with each passing year.

My ideal client is simply someone who is willing to show up. That’s all I ask. Be willing to show up, be honest, and be open to the process—and we can figure out the rest together. Life can be hard, confusing, and overwhelming. My goal is to help clients feel more settled, confident, and comfortable in their lives while developing practical coping skills and learning new ways to respond to challenges. Together, we work to understand the patterns that may be holding you back and begin making choices that support the life you want rather than choices that leave you feeling stuck or hurt. Through this process we create healthier, more effective ways for you to move forward.

Change involves thinking, feeling, and choosing. I enjoy engaging with my clients throughout that process and helping them identify what they can change, what they can let go of, and what they want to move toward. My approach incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and empathic, supportive listening. I particularly enjoy working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and substance use concerns, as well as those who are simply feeling stuck and looking for a way forward.
